About Talking Type 1

Our History

Our Ethos

The Talking Type 1 books were originally developed in NHS Wales by Clinical Psychologist Dr Rose Stewart with support from CYPDN Wales in 2017. The books cover a range of common psychological issues that are specific to living with diabetes, and can be used in conjunction with advice and support from diabetes teams to help address issues that commonly would not be considered severe enough to warrant a referral to psychological services. To date, four books have been published, and work is ongoing to expand the range.

We put co-production at the centre of every book we write. The range has been entirely co-produced with people living with diabetes, and contains real experiences throughout. Each book adopts a guided self-help approach, where readers are encouraged to write in their own experiences, learning points and goals to create a truly individualised resource. An online evaluation process is built in to each resource to ensure ongoing quality and obtain feedback for further development of the range.
